The namechange of Facebook to Meta is primarily to reroute the overwhelmingly negative connotations from existing Facebook C-Suite.
Meta becomes parent company of Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, WhatsApp. Zuck gets to spend more time on Oculus, or really just less time defending Facebook.
As it is (and without looking, I could be wrong) I imagine WhatsApp and IG are more valuable than Facebook classic today. October 28, 2021. “Facebook” can be repositioned as just one product instead of everything happening under the Zuck/Sandberg umbrella.
Zuckerberg/Meta can appoint a new “head of Facebook” who Zuck can credibly point to for headaches, can start appearing in front of Congress, can fall on any and all swords to come.
